Without leaving surface wounds, the contact barrels shut and hold the silicone rubber wire seal 1394133-1. The assembling process is completely automated.
Sealing interface with cavity
The cavity is then sealed with the seal that was crimped onto the contact. A radial compression of the rubber element and the ensuing sealing pressure at the interface are caused by the discrepancy between the outer diameter of the seal and the cavity diameter. As a result of this interference, the wire interface experiences more closure pressure, tightening up toward the cable.
