Main Components And Specific Functions Of Automobile Connectors

The main function of the automobile connector is to connect the blocked or isolated circuits in the circuit, so that the current flows and the circuit realizes the predetermined function. The automobile connector is composed of four main parts: shell, contact, accessory and insulator. The specific functions of these four main parts of the automobile connector are introduced as follows:

A. The shell is the outer cover of the automobile connector, which provides mechanical protection for the built-in insulating mounting plate and pin, and provides the alignment when the plug and socket are inserted, so as to fix the connector to the equipment;

B. Contact is the core part of automobile connector to complete the function of electrical connection- Generally, the contact pair is composed of positive contacts and negative contacts, and the electrical connection is completed through the insertion of negative and positive contacts. The male contact is a rigid part, and its shape is cylindrical (round pin), square cylinder (square pin) or flat (insert). Male contacts are generally made of brass and phosphor bronze. The female contact, namely the socket, is the key part of the contact pair. It relies on the elastic structure to produce elastic force when it is inserted with the pin to form close contact with the male contact and complete the connection. There are many kinds of jacks, including cylindrical (slotted, necked), tuning fork, cantilever (longitudinally slotted), folded (longitudinally slotted, 9-shaped), box (square jack) and hyperboloid spring jack;

C. Accessories are divided into structural accessories and installation accessories. Structural accessories such as snap rings, locating keys, locating pins, guide pins, connecting rings, cable clamps, sealing rings, gaskets, etc. Install accessories such as screws, nuts, screws, spring rings, etc. Most accessories include standard parts and general parts;

D. Insulator is also often called automobile connector base or insert. Its function is to arrange the contacts according to the required position and spacing, and ensure the insulation performance between the contacts and between the contacts and the shell. With good insulation, both ends adopt combined screws.
